KNOW YOUR BEAN🫘 SEASON 1 | CHAPTER 2 | @achew39 Welcome to the second chapter of Know Your Bean (KYB), a series celebrating the people who make up the Garden and the stories that connect us. Today we feature a bean whose art has shaped our stories for years. Only recently did I realize how little I knew about the person behind it, his story, his background, his inspirations. So today, we’re spotlighting a storyteller, artist and family man from Singapore, a Garden legend whose world blends science, imagination, and heart: @achew39
FAMILY AT THE HEART OF IT (2/10) If you’ve seen @achew39’s art, you’ve probably already met his family. They’re not just his inspiration, they’re part of his creative process. “I’m a family man through and through. My wife and daughters are my biggest supporters and my toughest critics. They’re the heart behind everything I make.” He’s a girl dad through and through (me too), patient, playful, and endlessly proud. Recently, he shared: “Two days ago I built a cardboard house for my little princess. She asked me to color a flower for her, so I did. Today I found her trying to copy how I colored it. Not bad for a 4-year-old!” Moments like this show how his worlds overlap, family, art, and imagination flowing as one. His home is his studio, his art a reflection of the love within it.
PRECISION AND IMAGINATION (3/10) By day, @achew39 is a lithography engineer, someone who literally works with light to create chips found in everything from light bulbs to satellites. By night, he’s an artist, storyteller, and dreamer, building worlds in the Garden long after the rest of the house has gone to sleep. He often says his life runs in two modes: precision at work and imagination at home. But in truth, those worlds converge. “I don’t post less because I draw less. I post less because I’m drawing more and pouring all my time into it.” That same discipline from engineering fuels his art, and his creativity brings warmth and meaning back into his work. It’s all part of the same light.
DISCOVERING THE GARDEN (4/10) For @achew39, it all began on Azuki reveal day. “I remember telling my wife, ‘Damn, I need one of these.’” At the time, Azukis were out of reach, so he quietly followed the project, every drop, every update, every spark of creativity. When Elementals launched, he knew it was finally his moment. He didn’t hesitate, and the Garden welcomed him home. Now, he proudly rocks Azuki #3214, eye band and all.
FINDING HIS HOME (5/10) “I’m not someone who’s usually active in chat groups, Discord servers, or social media,” @achew39 admits. “Most of the time, I just observe quietly while continuing my daily busy life.” That changed when he stumbled into the Azuki CN. “It was the first time I found a place where I didn’t feel pressured to speak, yet I knew I was never forgotten. A community I want to return to, not out of obligation, but because I miss the people in it.” That feeling inspired one of his proudest works, a hand-drawn Azuki CN family portrait, a piece that took nearly two months to sketch. And this year, his art didn’t just live online. It covered the walls of the Token2049 @azuki_singapore event, a full circle moment for a creator whose journey began quietly observing from the sidelines.
BEYOND WEB3 (6/10) Outside of Web3, @achew39 continues exploring the boundaries between traditional art and technology. He blends sketching, digital tools, and AI to tell stories that feel timeless and human. “Art isn’t just for the talented, it’s for the brave. Every piece I make is a rebellion against routine.” He believes in creating without fear and in sharing that courage with others.
MAN OF MANY TALENTS (7/10) Most know @achew39 for his manga-style art and AI experiments, but there’s more to his craft. He’s also a songwriter and an award-winning photographer. These days, he captures fewer landscapes and more moments, turning family photos into digital art that his wife and daughters wear proudly on T-shirts. When asked what he collects, he simply replied: “Memories.”
WHAT HE LOVES MOST ABOUT THE GARDEN (8/10) “The mix of talent and love everyone has for this community is unreal,” he said. “People come from completely different backgrounds, yet we all share the same passion for the brand and the art.” For @achew39, the Garden isn’t just a space, it’s proof that creativity connects people across continents, languages, and lives.
RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS (9/10) • Team Shao or Team Raizen: Shao • Favorite anime: Death Note (“I love stories that make me think until my brain overheats.”) • Most overrated: Your Name (“Aesthetic, yes. My type? Not really.”) • Dub or Sub: Sub • Favorite Trait: Eye band • Dream Azuki: #2174 (WOW) • Dinner Guest: Steamboy (“I’d love to hear what he thinks of my art.”) • Favorite Products: Azuki × AMBUSH, Golden Skateboard and Alpha Decks
FINAL NOTE TO THE GARDEN (10/10) “If you ever see me around, come say hi. This rebellious introvert artist could definitely use more friends.” That’s @achew39 — engineer by day, artist (and squatter) by night, coloring the worlds in between. His story, shaped by light, precision, and the heart of a devoted family man, reminds us the Garden grows not just through talent, but through kindness, courage, and family. As a family man and girl dad myself, his story resonated deeply. Thank you for sharing it with me. It’s a wrap. Who should we feature next in KYB? IKZ ⛩️
