Token2049 takeaways
- biggest promotions came from Asian CEXs and questionable projects.
- most booths, especially the large ones, had messaging that targeted everyone and no one at the same time. e.g. “new modular blockchain” or “trade anywhere, anytime”. Some booths seemed to exist just to boost the founders’ egos.
- i appreciate the projects hosting big parties, but when I asked four people what they thought about the “host project,” all of them said they’d never heard of it, even though its branding was literally everywhere.
- tons of wasted merch. By the end of the day, teams were begging people to take some of it.
Narrative and Mindshare:
I think most people at the conference just work for some project. They aren’t active crypto participants. They stay focused on their own niche and don’t know much about top projects in other areas, even those that have been top by mindshare for weeks.
Most crypto people still haven't heard of Aster, Limitless, Avantis etc
Only 2 of the top 10 biggest gainers of the week participated in Token2049
